Chess Hair Terms of Use

Chess Hair is a cloud chess engine analysis service. When you use it, analysis requests from Lichess get routed to our servers, and we stream the results back to Lichess, which you see in the UI.

These terms exist so that everyone is on the same page about what Chess Hair is, what it isn't, and what's expected if you use it.

Chess Hair is actively being developed. Things may break, features may change without much notice, and we can't guarantee server availability.

If you're using this service right now, you're an early adopter and we appreciate that a lot, but please don't expect perfection. In fact, we're relying on you to help us identify any issues. We'll do our best to keep things running, but we can't make any guarantees about uptime or availability.

Use the service for chess analysis on Lichess.

Don't try to abuse, overload, or reverse-engineer the service. Don't use it to do anything illegal. Don't attempt to access other users' data or interfere with their analysis sessions.

If we see activity that looks like abuse or puts the service at risk for other users, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account.

You sign in through Lichess OAuth. Your account is tied to your Lichess username. You're responsible for keeping your Lichess account secure, since that's how you access Chess Hair.

You can delete your account at any time. There's a big red button right on the home page when you're signed in. When you delete your account, we remove everything associated with it. See our Privacy Policy for the full details on what we store and how.

We provide cloud-based chess engine analysis that integrates with Lichess. We do our best to make it fast, accurate, and reliable.

We don't guarantee that the analysis will be available 24/7, that it will always produce the strongest possible analysis, or that the service will exist forever.

The chess analysis you generate is yours. We don't claim any ownership over positions you analyze or the results you receive. We do store some analysis data on our end to operate and improve the service, as described in our Privacy Policy. We know many users will want to keep their analyses completely private, and this is something we're working toward.

Chess Hair is provided as-is. We're not liable for any decisions you make based on engine analysis, any data loss, or any downtime. We're doing our best, but this is beta software run by a very small team.

We will definitely update these terms as the service evolves. If we make significant changes, we'll make an effort to let you know through Discord or directly on this website. Continued use of Chess Hair after changes means you're okay with the new terms.
